Bilingual answering service: which services answer in Spanish, and what it costs

A bilingual answering service answers your business calls in English and Spanish, so a caller who is more comfortable in Spanish can book, ask a question or leave a message without switching language. Most services we read include Spanish at no extra cost: PATLive, Abby Connect and Posh say so on their own pages, while Smith.ai charges $1.00 a call for a dedicated Spanish line. AI receptionists such as Rosie answer in English and Spanish on every plan. The need is real: in the Census Bureau's 2018-2022 survey, Spanish was the language of 61.1% of the people who spoke a language other than English at home. Below: which services answer in Spanish, what it costs, live vs AI, and other languages.

The short version

  • Spanish is usually included: PATLive, Abby Connect and Posh say bilingual answering costs nothing extra; Smith.ai's live service charges $1.00 a call for it.
  • AI answers in both: Rosie lists "English & Spanish on every call"; Dialzara includes English and Spanish from its $99 plan.
  • Who needs it: 21.7% of U.S. residents age 5 and older speak a language other than English at home, and Spanish is by far the most common.
  • Other languages: leasing platforms such as EliseAI answer by voice in seven languages; for a general business, ask each vendor.

What is a bilingual answering service?

An answering service, live or AI, that can hold the whole call in English or Spanish: the greeting, the questions, the booking and the message. A bilingual virtual receptionist is the same thing under another name. How the language is chosen depends on the service. PATLive's page describes routing: "English-speaking callers will be routed to English receptionists and Spanish-speaking callers will be routed to bilingual receptionists." AI receptionists answer in the same system for both languages; ask each vendor whether it switches on its own or asks the caller which language they prefer.

How many of your callers need Spanish?

More than most owners assume. The Census Bureau's 2018-2022 American Community Survey found 78.3% of people age 5 and older spoke only English at home, so 21.7% spoke another language. Among them, Spanish accounted for 61.1%, far ahead of Chinese (5.1%) and Tagalog (2.5%). By our arithmetic, that is about 13% of U.S. residents age 5 and older speaking Spanish at home. Most of them also speak English well: 61.0% of Spanish speakers spoke English "very well." The point is not that they cannot call you in English; it is that some callers prefer Spanish, and a service that offers it lets them choose.

Which answering services answer in Spanish?

Each row quotes the vendor's own page, read on September 27, 2026, with the monthly price for 40 calls (about 100 minutes) from our answering service cost comparison. We have not used these services.

Does a bilingual answering service cost more?

Usually not. Three of the six live services we read say Spanish costs nothing extra, two do not state a price for it, and one, Smith.ai's Virtual Front Desk, lists a dedicated Spanish line at $1.00 a call, in the same per-call add-on list as its $1.50 appointment booking. On AI plans, Spanish is part of the product: Rosie answers in both languages on every call from $49 a month, and Dialzara includes it from its $99 plan. Where a vendor does not state a price, ask in writing before you sign.

Bilingual virtual receptionist or bilingual AI: which fits?

Your Spanish-speaking callersBetter fitWhy

Whichever you choose, write your instructions in both languages, or have them translated by someone you trust, and make one test call in Spanish before real callers do. Check the greeting, the booking confirmation text and the message you receive afterwards.

What about a multilingual answering service?

For languages beyond Spanish, AI is further ahead than live services for small businesses. Platforms built for apartment leasing describe the widest range: EliseAI's site says it gives "voice support in seven languages and written responses in 51 languages," and Entrata says its Leasing AI "can translate 30+ languages." Dialzara says its website chatbot handles "10+ languages with auto-detect." For a general small business, ask each vendor which languages its voice agent speaks on the phone, not just in chat, and test the one your callers use.

LeadSixty, listed last because it is ours. We set up and run an AI receptionist that answers every call, text and web inquiry in English or Spanish, in your business's name, books onto your calendar and sends urgent calls to the person you name. Ask us about other languages on the call. First 30 days free, then a flat $297 a month with no setup fee; see pricing. The cons: callers reach AI, not a person, and we do not sell live answering. Law firms with Spanish-speaking callers can see our legal answering service. If your Spanish-speaking callers need a person, PATLive, Posh and Abby Connect include bilingual receptionists at no extra cost.
