The Car Broker Speed-to-Lead Report
How 111 independent US car brokers capture the leads they pay for, and how few of them show anything that replies to those leads right away.
What we found
Three out of four brokers capture leads with a form, and almost none show an instant reply behind it.
75% use website forms, quote requests, credit applications, "find my car" intakes, as their primary lead capture. Almost none showed any instant-response mechanism behind the form. Unless someone is watching the inbox, the lead waits for a human.
Only 8% promise any response time at all.
Just 9 of 111 brokers make a speed commitment anywhere on their site, and the promises we did find ranged from "callback within 15 minutes" to "reply within 24 hours." In a business built on negotiating for the customer, almost nobody competes on answering them.
61% are actively paying to generate leads.
Six in ten run visible marketing, Instagram and Meta promotion, Google presence, content funnels. The money goes into generating the inquiry. Very few of the same sites show anything that answers it instantly.
One in ten is phone-only. One in eight sells through DMs.
10% of brokers have no digital capture at all, a missed call is a lost lead, permanently. Another 12% sell primarily through social DMs, a channel that shows the customer a timestamp on exactly how long you took to reply.
Nearly a quarter are solo operators.
23% are one-person shops. Every test drive, every negotiation, every delivery run is a window where nobody is answering new inquiries, and new inquiries don't wait.
Share of the 111 analyzed brokers. Categories overlap, a broker can run ads and capture by form.
That figure comes from the Lead Response Management study, which analyzed more than 15,000 leads. Your buyer filled out three quote forms today. The broker who replies first gets the first real conversation.
How we did this
Between July and August 2026 we reviewed the public lead-capture setup of 111 independent car brokers, auto leasing brokers and car-buying concierges across more than 25 US states: each one's website, quote and credit forms, booking flows, social channels, and any response-time promise stated on the site. This is a review of what a buyer sees, not a mystery shop: we did not submit test leads or time replies. So where we say a form shows no instant-response mechanism, we mean nothing on the page or in the flow indicates an automatic reply, chat, or after-hours answer. Categories overlap, so percentages do not sum to 100.
Want to know where your funnel ranks against these 111?
The brokers winning in 2026 aren't out-spending anyone. They answer every inquiry, form, DM, or text, in under 60 seconds, around the clock. We build and run that for you, live in 14 days.
How we build that for car dealers and brokers is on its own page. The research behind the 60-second target, with every source, is in the speed to lead guide.
