What we found

01

Three out of four brokers capture leads with a form nobody answers after hours.

75% use website forms, quote requests, credit applications, "find my car" intakes, as their primary lead capture. Almost none showed any instant-response mechanism behind the form. The lead submits, and then waits for a human to check an inbox.

02

Only 8% promise any response time at all.

Just 9 of 111 brokers make a speed commitment anywhere on their site, and the promises we did find ranged from "callback within 15 minutes" to "reply within 24 hours." In a business built on negotiating for the customer, almost nobody competes on answering them.

03

61% are actively paying for the leads they're slow to answer.

Six in ten run visible marketing, Instagram and Meta promotion, Google presence, content funnels. The money goes into generating the inquiry. Almost none of it goes into answering it.

04

One in ten is phone-only. One in eight sells through DMs.

10% of brokers have no digital capture at all, a missed call is a lost lead, permanently. Another 12% sell primarily through social DMs, a channel that shows the customer a timestamp on exactly how long you took to reply.

05

Nearly a quarter are solo operators.

23% are one-person shops. Every test drive, every negotiation, every delivery run is a window where nobody is answering new inquiries, and new inquiries don't wait.

The first business to respond wins up to 78% of deals.

Industry sales research has shown it for years: average lead response is measured in hours, and buyers sign with whoever answers first. Your buyer filled out three quote forms today. They're buying from the broker who replies before the coffee gets cold.
